Use Compressor. The footage from the Mark is probably using the h264 codec… not what you want.
What I would do is go through your footage, make note of the files you want to use. If the files are too long (sometimes it is unnecessary to convert an entire clip if you just need a portion) is open the original in quicktime pro, then trim the footage, save as (so you don’t re-write over your original footage) I always leave the original file name plus add “trim” at the end. then open up compressor and add the clips you want to convert.
Then select the apple-pro res codec. IF I were you, I’d convert to the pro-res proxy (lowest file size) to make all of your edit. You could always go back and convert the original clip to the high quality pro-res codec and simply reconnect… Or use the “manager” but I’ve never done it that way so maybe someone else could chime in.

When ever you start FCP and it cannot locate your scratch disks on the first try, it will always open to a new project and not your current project(s) being worked on. Even if you re-connect the scratch disks.
So did you actually open your project? or did you just expect it to be there and see nothing?
OR
Did you indeed re-open your project by going to FIle>Open and get an empty bin?

Open the file in photoshop and resave…
whenever I export an image out of illustrator. even if it is RGB, final cut won’t read it. I have to open in photoshop re-save and viola. thats what works for me.

I find that the time one spends in searching for a short cut takes more time than to actually do it by hand…
And most short cuts do not do that good a job of it… which means you’ll have to do it by hand anyways.

Do you have access to Adobe Illustrator? Can easily be done there various ways…
Photoshop is not meant to be used for mainly text… thought I am not sure if newer versions have this feature.

then it’s practice practice and practice… I found it necessary to use one for wrist pain a few yeas back and have never looked back. There’s a really nice pen tablet out there that you actually draw on the screen but it’s a bit pricey… https://www.wacom.com/cintiq/cintiq-12wx.php

Make a mask around the object you want to keep as is… To learn how to make a mask… google it.

Make a custom brush…. Make a dot… blur it to what you want it to look like then select it and define the brush… If you don’t know how to make a brush, google it: https://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=how+to+make+a+brush+in+photoshop

What’s happening that you dont get the hang of it?
it may be that you have to go into the device settings and make some fine tunings…
I would practice things that you can do easily with a pencil… such as sign your name, draw the alphabet, make circles squares…
