Your images are too low in resolution. Are you working in HD? They need to be the same size as your footage to fill in the entire area in your canvas.

Your file size is not huge.
If you were sending this to a printing press, it would need to be 300dpi (dpi = dots per inch or ppi=pixels per inch)… and CYMK
(which is why Indesign or Illustrator are traditionally used for layout)If your document is 5 x 7… multiply 5 x 300 = 1500 and 7 x 300 = 2100…
Hence your pixel size would 1500 x 2100.
For desktop printing, 150dpi should be okay, but 200 dpi wouldn’t be a bad idea. BUT for text heavy items, 300 dpi would improve legibility.

If you go to set your scratch disks… you’ll see your autosave vault location. (If you havent changed it its’ probably in your home folder >Documents. Thats where your auto saved files are. they are basically back-ups of your projects.
But you might try deleting your Final CUt Pro preferences and restart FCP.

I think that the USB cable cannot handle so much data at a time, which is why you can also connect the printer via Ethernet cable.

It seems more feasible to pull something from a 16mm film… perhaps even HD since you can actually scan the film… (But quite expensive I imagine)…

Can you call your printer’s customer service and inquire about this. they may be able to provide some insight. What kind of cable are you using to connect?

it all depends on the quality of the original video.
IF the video still are from full HD you can get some decent results…
But SD is a crap shoot. It isn’t going to result in nice print results… if the clip is for web, you may be able to use… (and since you mention “de-pixelation” I think it is SD… or bad lighting.
And just like you can’t up-res video and expect decent results… it doesn’t work with stills either. Whenever someone wants to enhance a sh!tty lo-res picture, I tell them you’ve watched too much CSI.
HOWEVER, if the video was interlaced, you can de-interlace…
I don’t know… maybe you can post a clip so we can see just how bad it is and what your client expects to do with these stills.
