  • “Go through clip by clip like you would in the timeline”

It seems that works for a certain intent, but surely not to visualize them stringed together which is David’s point in this thread.

  • Have you tried to export a MOV to open it in QT 7 and do it from there?

You could try it in Compressor and After Effects too.

Couldn’t you nest your prime sequence into an new one?

  • You are right on the money.

Editing involves many different intents at the same time.
AND every piece of work has its particular combination of them.

Hence the tool should allow you to place anything, anywhere…
Up or down…To the left or to the right… Freely, for God’s sake.
AND preferably in alternative fashions, as well.

This is the “journey” that one needs to go through to craft an edit:
To experiment, to deliberate, to ponder feedbacks and to sort it all out.
The final result is achieved ONLY after we are able to do that.

Sadly, according to Apple’s engineering brains (or marketing ones?)
we all should know it beforehand – Instead I say WE know it better.

“Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people
who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.”

    We are just scared.

In the future, we won’t be gently riding the wives through

Eastern Europe and chasing ancient ballets playing in old houses…

Instead we’ll be wildly riding in the back of Tuk-Tuks and

watching HD files of a plagiarized Blue Men’s concert!

    Boy, that’s scary!

Hey, I’m with you on the cosmic ray thing! Getting hit here too!
And shure this alone won’t show Apple’s incompetence…

But if it is indeed compression artifact and it DOES seem like one to me,
I think it is pertinent to point it out here, no?
That “Phenomenal” quote along with the compression, it was just ironic.

Just watched that on 2 different cpus for that matter.

    Cheers

    I feel your pain Paul!
Thanks for sharing your insightful rant ;>) Greaaaaat post!

    Holy Cow!

  • Michael, I am aware of your immensely helpful webpage…24p.com
But would you be kind to enlighten me on two dead-ends I have ran into:

    – it is possible to retrieve USABLE audio from a PD removal digitize?

    – Is it possible to retrieve 24 unique frames from a PD removal digitize?

These questions regards attempts on an AVID Media Composer with NO AVID hardware,
in a 23.976 NTSC SD project with firewire capture from the DVX100A
