  • Problem with image sequence with more than 99999 tiffs

Posted by Andrea Marini on September 30, 2011 at 6:57 pm

We exported a tiff sequence for a DCP master, but after 99999 files FCP started again from 00001 overwriting the first part of the movie. The project is 74 minutes long.

Is there a workaround for that?

Errata corrige: the tiffs stopped at 65536. I found a similar post here on the cow but without a solution other than bringing the movie to a post house https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1114564

Split the project into 20 minute reels.

Have you tried to export a MOV to open it in QT 7 and do it from there?

You could try it in Compressor and After Effects too.

If I can remember, that limit the number of stills you can manage as a sequence, or for exporting a movie.
I guess is a kind of QT limitation; something like the limited length of movies.

WOW, that’s less than an hour…Anyway, in AE this will work for sure.

For a Video NLE and for when QT was designed, 45 minutes Stills Sequences is not too bad.

Even being able to manage a higher number, I see it very little recommendable.
If the advantage of the sequences is that you can treat/replace individual stills, chopping and compounding sequences is something natural.
