+1 on the grouped clips feature

The opacity for each window is addressed in the v11 updateit seems.

I’m guessing the camera raw settings is setup to give you a rec709 gamma and colour space

I havent worked with the Black Magic range of cameras much, but I think you can change the camera raw settings for cinemadng files globally with settings->camera raw and per clip under the camera button down on the left in the color room.

I think you will be able to choose a more “raw” setting for you to have all the headroom that is available.

December 10, 2013 at 9:41 pm in reply to: IR Removal In Post

    I use couple of techniques

Custom curves: pull down on bottom of the red channel.
Hue vs sat: pull down on the magenta a bit (IR usually pushes magenta a lot)
Hue vs hue. Pull magenta up a little bit pushing it towards blue (this breaks the picture fast so pull gently)

Hope to hear about other techniques as well

  • I would like to know this as well. My current workaround is importing xml on resolve 9 lite on my laptop, export project, and import into v10b3 on desktop machine.

+1 on the input sizing in edit. Great feature when comparing to offline ref.

  • But if you want camera gateweave you will want to have motionblur corresponding to that weave. You cant have that in Resolve (I think so?)

Why cant you just export from resolve, import into AE and add weave with motionblur after?

I have done a bit of film look effects in AE on different digital cameras. And think motion blur makes it look much better. Looks digital without.

Tip: If you are adding grain also, do that after the motionblur weave, as it would not be affected.

    Hope this helps

January 24, 2013 at 10:27 am in reply to: Remote grading disaster with Red camera.

Sounds like a major bug with remote grading RED material. I was just planning to do this myself. Maybe I have to take the old 2K DPX route instead.

Hope Black Magic take notice of this. Have you reported the bug?

  • This sounds very interesting!

We have a mac pro station running davinci resolve and when we heard abaout smoke 2013 for mac we really wanted to have smoke on the same station.

Will this then be possible? Have you tried smoke on this setup?

July 12, 2012 at 6:24 pm in reply to: Will the render cache be useful one day ?

A render cache with prores/dnxhd media would really be nice. I really like doing multilayer blend modes but even with a gtx470 (and 800mB/s+ read storage for the DPX cache) realtime (and storage) is disappearing fast…
