Yes. Using downconversion on acquire. Can’t use RS422 control, as SDI signal coming from EX3. Will test HD acqiure when back in edit suite – next monday. Thanks Floh.

I must agree with Michael. The Media 100 system is fast, simple & intuitive to operate. I often shoot with an EX1 & 3 and find the workflow fast & reliable. My only gripe is the quality of the QuickTime downconverter/scaler, so when editing for SD I digitise from the camera SDI HD out, into the Media 100 HD & let the superb hardware downscaler convert to SD – no aliasing!
My advise would be to find a Media 100 & FCP dealer and see for yourself. Good luck.G5 dual 2.7, OS10.5.1, 4G RAM

Wick,
Indeed I have an HDx card. I must apologise for posting my “Softness” issue before completing the tests.
There certainly is a difference between system downconverted HD > SD material & SDI/HDx converted clips. The latter being superior, especially regarding aliasing. However, the result of my first test was evaluated on the Producer LCD monitor viewer, which certainly made the SD downconvert look soft. But playing the same file via the G5/HDx system & on a Sony BVM monitor – the clips looked sharp BUT with noticeable aliasing, compared with the original HD clips.G5 dual 2.7, OS10.5.1, 4G RAM

Thank you Media 100. Seamless import with XDCAM EX at last! Very elegant… Only gripe I have is the quality of conforming HD clips to SD – looks soft, much softer than digitising via SDI from the camera?

I burn native SxS clips to Blu_Ray. So far all working OK, I’ve transferred clips back & forth without problems.

Thanks Wick. But where is the promised support for XDCAM EX? Any news would be gratefully appreciated.

Michael I follow your thinking, but I would have thought the EX1 to eternal drive, for storage, then back to EX1 for digitising would be both faster & would allow you to stay in native 1920…

Rather than go to tape – I digitise to Media 100 from the EX1 via the SDI output, using the Media 100 hardware to downconvert to SD. I only use EX1 downconvert if sync audio is required. I find the Media 100 hardware HD to SD route shows less alaising than from an EX1 downconvert. But still, like many others I’m eager for Boris to release a version of Media 100 which handles the EX fromat natively…

May 17, 2008 at 10:22 am in reply to: Schneider/Century Optics .75x Wide Angle Adapter for the EX1 Recalled!!I recently took delivery of .6x & 1.6x Schneider adapters & find the .6x a real problem with focussing. I followed the instructions regarding focus & macro settings on the EX1, but still the camera has trouble achieving focus, & ones focussed it pops in & out occasionally?
