    Hi Everyone,

This is Wick, the new Product Manager for Media 100 Editing Products at Boris FX.

I’m pleased to announce the release of Media 100 v12.6.

This release provides support for AJA’s retail driver version 5.1 NDD along with several bug fixes. This means that a dual-boot configuration is no longer needed to use Media 100 and FCP with the same AJA card. Both applications now use the same driver.

The new version of Media 100 can be downloaded here:
    https://www.media100.com/support/downloads.php

The AJA driver can be downloaded at their website:
    https://www.aja.com/html/support_swd.html
Be sure to choose the correct driver for your particular AJA card.

Steps for a smooth upgrade from 12.5 to 12.6…
    – Launch the Media 100 v12.6 Installer.
    – Enter the Trial Install Code sent to you via email.
    – When prompted, switch from “Easy Install” to “Uninstall”
    – When the uninstall is complete, switch back to “Easy Install”
    – After restarting, run AJA driver installer then restart one more time and you’re done.

Also be on the look out for a brief overview and tutorial on the recently introduced Multi Channel Audio features. It should be on the website sometime in the next 24 hours.

Thanks Wick. But where is the promised support for XDCAM EX? Any news would be gratefully appreciated.

Here here Chris! Even a progress report would be heartening just to know that this is on Media 100’s ‘radar’.

    Gentlemen,

I assure you that we are working on XDCAM support and the EX-1 is a part of that effort. That’s as much as I can say right now in a public forum. Sit tight, stay tuned and don’t give up. We’ll have more to tell you soon.

As a long time Media100 customer, it’s great to see this product advancing again. The last year alone has really shown a commitment by Boris to getting this suite back to the top. Keep up the good work!

    Wick,

congratulations to the 12.6 release. Supporting Aja Kona drivers is a great addition to the Media 100 workflow, and it will make the work between different apps (e.g. Apple Color, which we use a lot, and Soundtrack) much smoother. You are really pushing Media 100 forwards these days. Please keep up the great work your whole team is doing on the Application, and please keep the discussion about new features open with your existing and potential customers.

    Thanks,

    Floh

Great to have the ‘hints’ about EX1 support, I knew that I would be justified in sticking with the wonderful Media 100. I endorse other comments in appreciation of what Boris has done and, apparently, is doing with the company. It is the best and looks like remaining so and this should be trumpeted far and wide throughout the industry worldwide.

I’m still a way off being able to afford a new apple machine, but when I finally do, I’ll probably get the latest Media100 to boot…as such, it’s such an encouragement to hear of all the new developments that keep taking place, so congrats on Media100 v12.6 =)

I thought at NAB you announced that HDV I/O via FireWire support would, at long last, be in 12.6. Is it?

Also, is there support for HD 3-2 pull-down removal? And, pull-up on export?

Without these functions supported, plus XDCAM HD/EX support, most Sony HD camcorders are not supported. Likewise, JVC entire HDPro line is out of luck.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Steve,

HDV is already in there. We announced v12.5 at NAB, which included support for HDV input as well as Mulit-Channel Audio Input* and Audio Track Re-Mapping in the Edit Suite.

As stated in my post above, we are working on XDCAM.

As for pulldown removal and insertion, it’s an interesting feature request that is “on our list” but that has not been committed to yet.

Wick, Where’ve you been? You’re a longtime M100 person. Have you been with the company the whole time, or did you leave and return?
