Also find it strange how little activity there is on this forum for the 300/305.
I’ve been using a 300 for 2 months now & despite a few gripes with the lens rings, I am very happy with it. I’m going to retire my EX3 in favour of the Canon. Suggest you hire one for a weekend & see what you think.Cams: Z1, EX3, HDX900.

Just transfer the folder containing ALL the files to a hard drive from your CF cards. No need to go through FCP. Use Log & transfer in FCP to ingest your selected clips. Would also suggest making a backup of your orininal camera cards to bluray or another drive.

Have tried Apple standard settings & that looks fine on a regular TV/Panel. I’m playing out to a Pana 60″ Plasma via a quality player & it looks cleaner (less noise & more sharp) using a max bit rate of 9.
Think I can see an error in my settings – Rate Conversion is set to Fast. Should be Best me thinks?Cams: Z1, EX3, HDX900.

Steadicam on boats is of little use as the wind (if there is any) creates balance issues. Far better to use an Ultramedia type setup. If budget is low, try Kenyon tripple giro open rig – although this needs practice to perform.

I’ve sorted the problem by using Motion to export, as opposed to a Final Cut render. Regardless of how I set up Motion, it was sending an interlaced file to Final Cut, however the project & clips were progressive?
