Need a lot more detail for a correct answer. How is it framed, what is blocking the effect from happening so far? Etc.
From what you explained all I can say is use a mask to split the screen at the door and put one footage on one side of the mask, and the other on the other side. Shift the clips in the timeline till she looks like she is walking in sync between the shots.

Well the tracker in AE isn’t the greatest, so yeah try one in Commotion, or Combustion. What you may be seeing though is the motionblur on the film. Even if you did a perfect stabilize, the motionblur from the original move is still there.

generally speaking, AE excels at 2D art placed in a 3D environment. You have 2D art and want a 3D effect so I would say it’s ideal.

What you’re doing is basically the identical process for doing lightsabers just with different colors. So I would search the archives (and the net really) for light saber. It’s been talked about a TON.

haha. I suppose so. See what I get for never really getting to know the render module? The render module and I are 2 ships passing in the night. Did they hide the new color corrector and roto tools in the render module in AE7?

They most likely used a rotoscope to do that and did the drawings by hand. That and the howard Jones video with the same look.
You could do this digitally. Use the paint tool in AE and paint strokes over the image. It’s gruelling work. Commotion has some auto paint functions that help out with this if you have a copy of it.

We once did a Lottery spot where a swarm of dollar bills came blowing in all around. We shot real money and scanned money to be applied to particles and aired it. No complaints.

you should be able to copy those position keys to any 2d parameter (With an x and y). Even a 3D parameter I believe and the z will be ignored.
Or pick whip it.
