Despite searching the manual I am unsure how or if I can key out the green screened background from some live action video and then export the resulting alpha channel as a mask – either as an AVI file or image sequence (preferably both).I am using Version 6.5 Pro.

Switch around the channels using one of the channel effects. So make the R, G, and B all equal alpha.

Or create a white solid. Put the keyed footage one layer above it. Then set the white solid’s track matte to alpha.

Hi Chris, wouldn’t setting the Output Module to render just the Alpha Channel do the trick?

haha. I suppose so. See what I get for never really getting to know the render module? The render module and I are 2 ships passing in the night. Did they hide the new color corrector and roto tools in the render module in AE7?

    🙂
