Have you tried using the text animators? You can set a per-character position (x only) and set it to wiggle instead of range.
I’d also rummage through the text animator presets to see if one does it already or is close to it as a starting point.

When I used Icarus, I would indeed export as a Maya .ma file. Then in Maya I would clean up the hundreds of nulls down to the few I need in AE. Then I gave them the naming convention AE needs to see the nulls (null_NAMEHERE). Then in AE I imported that modified .ma from MAYA. Then just linked my AE 3D layers to the nulls so the AE objects are exactly in space where they should be.
Most 3D trackers should have a direct AE output though. I believe Boujou does.

Create a red solid. Use the circle mask tool to create a circle. Feather the mask to get a soft edge. Switch through the transfer modes to see which one has a more “glowy” feeling over your slide footage. I’m thinking trying ADD, Overlay, Color Dodge (or Burn), Linear light, etc. Then obviosly adjust the opacity to taste.

I would think that is what the employer desires. What I don’t think the employee cares about is how much you know about the mechanics of AE. You can read the manual for that.

Then you have your keyframing button on or something. It should stay this way permanently. Until explicitley changed.

PS doesn’t have interpolation because it isn’t time based. Why would you do it frame by frame when AE interpolates keyframes for you?

Search the Cow archive for ‘ribbon’. Last year it was brought up every other day. Should be lots of info. My favorite method by far is creating a sweep nurbs object in C4D. Then simply animating the ‘grow’ parameter so it grows along a path.

did you adjust the dynamics down to nil? So they don’t move.

If I understand correctly, double click one of the mask edges. It will show it’s bounding box. Drag a corner out to re-scale it. Hold shift down of course to keep the same w to h ratio.
