Same thing happening to me… Although this seemed to fix it AND give great performance…
take the amount of RAM u have divided by the number of processors equals “X” now make sure the ram and cache setting percentages are such that the ram equals less than “X” it seems when the multiprocessing is clicked on… it takes this value for EACH processor… so when its overclocked it freezes… After i adjusted this setting…. my octocore is FLYING rending Huge chunks of frames at a time… -
UPDATE: Think i figured it out… as forewarned (sorta) on the multi processing preference… Ram settings need to be adjusted when multi processing is on…
Had to do turn down the RAM setting to a percentage that equaled 1/8 of available RAM…. aka 12Gb divided by 8 cores… this ends up being a really low percentage like 30% or so…. but now its FLYIN!

Particular doesnt support blockage from 3D layers… only layer hierarchy in the comp window will govern which layers show up on top…. u probably have to fake it… I.E split your layers (identical ones on top and below particular) and alternate which ones are on… or make multiple particular layers and sand which the action… like people in a snow storm… big snow particular layer on top of them… fine dense snow layer underneath them

motion blur? are u talking about a real camera… or a virtual one in After effects…

yeah… I made that example in photoshop… I know there’s an after effects effect that can create the same effect, but animatable… like the “mirror” effect….
