I would assume the realtime effects they boast about the card is for Final Cut Pro only. That means realtime playback without rendering which is different than the definition of real time playback in a color corrector which would be the ability to make changes as the clip plays back in real time. After effects does neither, everything is rendered for playback unless you hit the space bar which is an approximate framerate that’s dependent on possessing power.
I color correct in FCP with HD Extreme. It has a better refresh than other cards I’ve tried. If you want top of the line for color correcting/monitoring in AE on a PC, look into that Nvidia GPU card with the SDI output. I’m not a PC guy but the way I understand it is that card is for monitoring only. You’ll get the AE GPU speed boost and instant refresh but may need a second card for your editing/input/output. Someone correct me if I’m wrong because I’ve been keeping an ear out for a Mac version.

Ignore me. the Decklink Extreme has no problems.
I realized that when I switch between underscan & overscan the lines stay in the same place on the monitor & not on the footage. We’re now recreating the problem on multiple CRTs from different source material (without the Decklink card) but the problem is not visible on the Pro LCDs in-house.
If we figure out the problem I’ll update one day but for now the Decklink Extreme is rock solid.Chris

I tried it on a Sony PVM, a BVM & a Panasonic Pro LCD. I did an HD layback to a D5 tape as well.
Lines are not on the Quicktime files. Even files captured with this card.
Underscan & overscan.
Lines appear on desktop output & After Effects video output as well.thanks.

Exporting an uncompressed file for layback using an 8 or 10 bit card to digibeta would be best. I haven’t used G Nicer but bumping your Sequence up to Uncompressed will help all your uncompressed graphics & any FCP rendered material (Filters or Motion tab). But if you change the hight of your sequence from 480 to 486, understand that when you place DV footage in a 486 NTSC/D1 Sequence, the DV clip’s “Center” in the “Motion” menu of that clip should be 0,1.
When you insert a DV video clip into a sequence from the bin, FCP automatically does this for you. But it you take an edited DV sequence & change the Sequence Settings “Height” to 486 (to render it Uncompressed for output), the field order of your clips will not match the field order of your sequence causing interpolation (blur). The next step to fix that would be to apply a “Center” of 0,1 to all your DV footage.
