Thanks for the advice Scott. The client should be getting back to us on what is necessary, i was just wondering if there was something special i should look out for. it would be research, not surgical.
I’ll get some sterile polythene of some sort either way, though I’ll have to get the lens pocking out somehow.

Equipment will be Sony Z7, D800 and a couple of GoPros. The GPs will probably horrify some of you vets but i find them fantastic when you need a special close up, table dolly or need a cam in a tight spot (besides, i can wash the casing easily)
Lights to a minimum. a few Dedo Spots.

Hi, joining in a little late.

A “cheap” yet viable option for a 3rd camera angle may be a GoPro. Don’t laugh, they are not just for skaters and bikers, they are a handy piece of my video arsenal. I’ve seen TV cameras with them stuck on their lens hoods.
A well positioned GP, (not facing a bright surface or light source) either above the speaker or below, even straight in front, can really give you an often effective un intrusive wideangle cutaway shot incase your main cameras have to reposition.

OK it is resolved, but i think it’s an FCP glitch.

In seq 3a, EACH cut of seq2 that i made seems to have created its OWN “Ghost” seq2+TC. So i have gone through 100 cuts in seq3a, double clicked and turned off the TC!
I now have 100x seq2 timelines open where there should be only 1.

When i say “Ghost” Seq, i mean it doesn’t show up anywhere and seems to only exist in FCPs inner self…

In conclusion, it seems that when I created the duplicate seq for cutting i presumed FCP would be able to follow the logic and cascade the changes in one go. It can’t… or i have a bug.

Would be interesting to hear if anyone else has had similar problems?

No I didn’t change opacity as I did it roughly using the 2 voices simultaneously.
I did the tc months ago, so can’t exactly remember how I did it but..
I see that in seq 3 I copy/pasted the selection and the version I copied the tc has gone but the version I pasted, it stays.
think it could be the act of pasting it that has bugged the following seq. possible ?

Ok the penny dropped! So before when I tried F because of the missing sound link it wasn’t putting the sound back with the image and I thought I was being dense…

Not sure i understood what you meant there. you mean it’s only resolved by manual labour?

Anyway, what i did (for anybody who’s curious) to get the sound back when deleted from seq, is drag a fresh version of the whole broll sequence to timeline.
Low and behold a red line appeared on the Broll footage to show where the cut had came from. Blue and orange etc lines elswhere showing me other parts used elsewhere in the timeline.

So all i have to do is find the right spots and chop the newly imported chunk with the sound track still attached. Time consuming but less that trying to find exact spots.

Heres a question as i’m trying to understand how the other guy did it; When i dragged the footage to the timeline I had to drag it to the Sound channels or the sound was not reimported.
Whats he done here?

Have taken all that on board, though some of it is past my level of understanding. I understand that there will be an xlr feed in the room now. Output is only flv for web posting, so i think i should be ok.

I thought I was being intelligent with the wireless idea, but as you say, maybe best avoided in those situations as there may well be a bunch of interfernce from all sorts of kit in there.

I have the exact same scenario and I was SO happy to find this thread… not so happy now!

I have the same issue with the same formats but I’m using FCP7.

I suppose that there have not been any miraculous changes over the last year and a half?

Any suggestions or tricks appreciated… or i’ll convert 6hrs into 422

Found this string while looking to do the same thing.

I have to send an inexperienced person out with a Handycam (quick and light travel the must in this case) to shoot a “quick n dirty” low budget podcast quality interview.

I have tested it and decided to send him off with an H2, with the power setting turned ON! (good call Sebastien, I’d never have looked) and Low or Mid gain and a lav that came with a Sennheiser SKP100 radio pack.
I’ll then sync over the voice and hope to get a better result than the built-in.

I know this will make the hardened Pros wince a bit but some people don’t always have the budgets to cover the best kit straight away.
