Hi Donna, did you ever solve this mystery?

My issue is similar … crisp 1080 footage from a GH2 becomes noticeably soft when dropped on Vegas 10 timeline.

Project properties matched to clip. Preview quality at Best. When rendered to 1080 it exhibits the same softness as shown in the preview window.

I have not found other similar discussions elsewhere, so have resorted to posting in this old thread.

Thanks Roger! I have had similar basic success with these parameters … was just wondering if I was missing something special by not diving into node-based options of Magic Bullet, After Effects, DaVinci, etc.

I did find a helpful blog post regarding order of post-FX as follows:

(See Tip#3 — Order of Operations)

1. Remove artifacts and de-noise.
2. Balance your shots by adjusting BLACKS/MIDS/WHITES, SATURATION and WHITE BALANCE.
3. Relight within a shot using power windows or masks.
4. Add gradients, diffusion and other lens filters.
5. Add vignettes
6. Grade your images
7. Simulate a film stock of your choice
8. Resize and sharpen

I have had this problem too, but only for some batches of files.

With the problem batch, even though I have specified a location, and also allowed Sony to “search and find”, it will not automatically recognise the location for all the other sequentially numbered files. There are over 50 of such files … very annoying.

Any ideas?
