Specify a New Location?
First time posting here so please direct me to any threads if my issue has been addressed before. thanks
Sony Vegas Pro 10
Not sure how it happened but the name of one of my folders got changed and now Vegas is asking me to specify a new location or replacement for each file. I have way too many files to do this for each one.
I recall from a previous version of Vegas, getting a window asking me if I want to replace or repeat the action for all files for that specific folder.
I went back and tried to rename the folder to it’s original name but no luck…
any help would be great. thanks!

You only have to answer the prompt for the first file, then Vegas will try that location for the remaining files.

Yea, I find it easiest to let Vegas search and then give it just the drive letter that the folder is on and then it will find all of the files at once as Stephen said.

I have had this problem too, but only for some batches of files.
With the problem batch, even though I have specified a location, and also allowed Sony to “search and find”, it will not automatically recognise the location for all the other sequentially numbered files. There are over 50 of such files … very annoying.
Any ideas?

I have no idea why it does this for some files. This is why it’s extremely important to create a folder for each project and place all of the media for that project into that folder. This way there is only one place that your files could possible be.

Funny thing is, all the files ARE in the one location.

So you are saying that all of the files are on one place, you don’t move anything, and you open a project and Vegas can’t find any of the files??? That is really strange. Perhaps your project is corrupt. I would open a new project and copy and paste everything from the old project into the new project and save it. That shouldn’t be happening.

Hey there! First time poster but a long-time reader.
I am helping a friend and his wife out with their wedding video. I brought Vegas 11 with me to them and we started, sat for a few hours and it was almost complete except for a short video clip we were getting sent to us a few days later. So I brought everything to the project with me home on a USB-stick.
But when I got home my Vegas 11 wouldn’t start, so I figured it would be a high time to update to 12 anyway. The problem is that when I open the project none of the video clips work. The pictures (I chose to include slideshows as well) and the music works, but not the video nor the audio for the video.
When I open the project I get that pop-up window telling me to specify a new location but I have to do it for all the clips, not just the first then choose “Do this for the rest” or something like that, like I could do with the pictures.
But when I’m done they still don’t work. I even put the clips in the exact same path as they want to open in but that doesn’t work either.
I should maybe add that they are all un-grouped from their respective audio.They’re leaving for India tomorrow and would like to show the video to their family there but I can’t figure out how to fix this. Remaking all of it isn’t really an option since I don’t remember exactly how I edited them.
Anyone got any idea regarding this?

You can right-click on the missing media in the Project Media and select the Replace option and navigate to the correct file and it should replace the missing media with the correct file.

Well… this was rather embarrassing. While answering to your reply I wrote down the error message I got, which said “The reason for the error could not be determined.” I realized that I hadn’t installed QuickTime since I formatted my computer a month ago. And the files are .mp4 so that solved it!
Sorry about the confusion, I just thought I had the same issue as others when I researched.
