I used a third party mouse like this once with those two extra buttons on the sides and I hated it. They push accidentally all the time and do things you don’t want. I use a Wacom 6×8 with a three button mouse and it’s the best.

9 times out of 10 I don’t need all those controlls, but they sure come in handy sometimes. I like them. I’ve gotten used to lots of controls in filters like Gfilm or many AE plugins for instance.
I didn’t mean to poopoo your QT suggestion, I just think it’s an odd solution. If you wanted to change the relationship between your background and your key, you’d have to start from scratch, kinda like doing a tape edit 15 years ago.

If you know your footage is truly anamorphic, go to sequence>settings and check the anamorphic box. You may have to distort your clips to fit and render but that’s all you gotta do. In DVDSP just use anamorphic settings for the project and simulator and you will get a widexcreen movie.

Hey Tom,
I took a look at that keyer, seems like the long way around the barn to me. I’ll spend an extra 150 bucks for DVmatte Pro any day. Plus, it’s about to be re-released, rewritten from the ground up.

Soundtrack Pro does this, but you can also use Soundsoap from Bias. The regular version will do fine. Just be careful with it as it usually will overdo it on its own, you have to back it off a little.

What Walt sayss is true, but personally, I do most of my titles in Photoshop. I also really like the new CHV text collection plugins. They have all kinds of neat bells and whistles built in, like multiple outlines, glows etc., really cool, easy to use and cheap too.

I forgot to tell you that after it’s up in FCP you need to go under the tool menu>control surface and click + and you’ll see a Mackie icon which you would select. You do the same thing in Soundtrack only it’s in prefs.
This thing is great, but noisy, and pretty distracting when playing through a sequence with a lot of tracks, I usually turn it off when clients are here.

You need to get the firmware and there’s a little utility you need to instal it. It looks like it’s PC only but it works. Real pain in the ass.

Here’s the info:
Download the utility, it’s called SysEx, https://members.cox.net/sgrace9/sysex/
Turn on the BCF and make sure it’s in U1 to 4. Launch SysEx, drag the firmware into it’s window. Press the play button in the upper right, the data will transfer. Then turn off and on the BCF holding down the second from the top left button under the knob. “nc c” will be displayed. Press Exit and you’re set. -
I recently got CHV’s Text collection and the scroll text is fabulous, as are the rest of the set. SO quick and easy to use.
