The canvas displays rougher video than the viewer, you need to see the work on an NTSC monitor.

Yes, I agree with BabaG. I was using drop frame for a long time and I was always having a hard time making sure multiple spots on the same sequence were all exactly the right length. For commercials, it makes it much easier to use ndf, especially when you want each one to start on an exact even minute when you edit to tape. The ndf tapes I have made in this way seem to be fine, and I have never had one rejected by a station.

Well I’ll be darned, the DVD made with Compression Master m2v files is about 40% sharper than the Compressor DVD. I’d go so far to say it is usable.

You can hook up any DVD player to your camera or deck, and capture using non-controlable device.

A sequence dragged into the timeline behaves like a clip, as you saw. That’s why I brought up the issue of handles, above. If there’s a fade up and down in the sequence, you would just put them next to or over each other and you’re done.

How long are the segments you want to send? This has an impact on the size of the files. Compressor can certainly do the job, but you can do it with QT Pro if you follow this:

If you’re going to be doing a lot of these, Compression Master or Sorenson Squeeze or both can save you a lot of time.

I control my 1800 through the RS422 cable from my Kona LH, and previously through the same cable on my Decklink SP. Also remember to set the far left hand button to remote.
