You would need to do the downconvert to an NTSC timeline in order to play in realtime via Firewire to this monitor. Or you would need a Kona or Decklink or somesuch card.

Under work-for-hire conditions, everything you do for a client is owned by them UNLESS you agree in writing up-front on what you can keep. I’m not a lawyer, but this is a fact of our business.
If this was work you did on your own and they offered to buy it from you, that is an entirely different situation. Then you are in control of the terms and details.

The “high quality” QuickTime view setting has no impact on how titles will look in FCP. The main problem here is the use of the DV codec. Change the compressor of your sequence to 8bit uncompressed or ProRes and render, The resulting movie will look much better when encoded to DVD.

This is an inexpensive time bas corrector which works very well with any FireWire camera or deck. Set your capture control to non-controlable device.

On larger budget jobs we ALWAYS hire a makeup artist. On no budget jobs, we use Kleenex. I’m sure either of the powders you mentioned will work pretty much the same.

In reading this more carefully, what you would be doing is a tape-to-tape transfer via the colorist, in which case you can certainly get a ProRes master provided you color house has that codec.
