Deleting the media cache worked. Thank you!

  • The same codec was causing the same problem on my PC system. Windows8, PremiereCC. It was installed as part of Fuji FinPixStudio that I had installed to handle some 3D video. I uninstalled it and now all is fine.

I figured it out because of this thread. Thanks for the info- gotta love this community!

Went to a Sony demo- the rep said that Premiere 6.5 will support it. In the meantime the free version of Blackmagic DaVinci resolve will convert it.

Just to be clear I am not importing or exporting AIFF separately- it is part of the ProRes files.

The source audio is 48K AIFF from ProRes422 source. The output is either the same or mp2 with the same results. Right now I work around it by re-doing the export. The errors occur intermittently and in different places. For example, audio from the beginning of the spot might be repeated in the middle but if I re-export the audio from the beginning may be repeated at the end. It does seem to be the same audio that is repeated.

If I XML the sequence to Final Cut 7 on the same system these problems do not occur.

The problem was a bad dock. Once I had a replacement (and updated the firmware) there were no more problems. I use it regularly now, although I wish I had the newer version with HDMI out. They offered current owners a discount on the new model but I do not see it mentioned on their site anymore.

Finally nailed down the problem to having outdated Boris Continuum Complete plugins. I updated them and now FCP7 boots. My final advice is to not upgrade to Mountain Lion in mid-project. If you are not going to do a clean install, make sure you have a backup so you can restore to a working system. I love to try the latest stuff so I have a boot drive dedicated to that so I do not risk my working system.

I have narrowed the issue down to fxplug plugins. Am checking them one at a time It is either Boris Continuum complete or Sapphire Edge. FCP 7 does boot in 10.8 when I have removed these fxplug plugins.

  • I read a while back that Walter Biscardi used Ethernet for his suites, at least for a while. As I recall the key was to turn on something called “fat bits”.

It’s starting to look the the problem is a defective dock. Sorry about being cranky about lack of response from Atomos- didn’t realize that they are in Australia!
