Hi,
I have solved the problem. I decided to change the ‘Preview file format’ in the ‘sequence settings’ dialog box from ‘720x576i PAL 48KHz 32bit float’ to ‘720x576i PAL Wide 25fps 48k 32 bit float’.It seems that if your preview file format is in a different aspect ratio to your project settings then it will not work. This makes sense but I did not have to set this manually in CS3.
Hope this helps someone else
Cheers

Hi Bram,
Thanks for your post. I am just running the 4.1.1 drivers at the moment. The system captures and lays back to tape perfectly. When you are using an AJA quicktime everything works fine. However, if you want to bring in a file that has a different codec. i.e. an MPEG-2 file or quicktime with H.264 it will not render it properly. Like I said before it just outputs a green screen! I have contacted AJA, but they have not got back to me. This problem has occured ever since they released the 64-bit 4.x drivers. Is anyone running premiere pro 4.1 on vista64 with a xena 2k successfully? Like I said the same hardware works perfectly with premiere cs3 and 64-bit 3.5 drivers.
Everytime they have updated the drivers I thought it might fix the problem but it hasn’t. I have had to roll back the drivers to 3.5 and use cs3 in order to keep this production machine working properly.
If anyone has any ideas please send them my way. Thanks a lot

Hi Kevin,
Usually an LFE channel does not appear to have much going on in the waveform view as it only occurs at explosions and end credits etc. It may be that there is not much low frequency action happening in this mix. Either that or this is just meant to be a 5.0 mix.
With regards on where to pan this channel, that is the exact problem I am having. Hopefully someone will come to our rescue!Cheers

Hi,
Are you sure about the surcode plugin. It has a 5.1 option in it?In any case, disregarding the plugin, I can always just play straight out of premiere via the Xena 2K card we have, straight into our hardware Dolby Digital encoder. The issue I have is that the LFE channel does not seem to be mapped to a discrete output. It seems to get mixed accross all of the channels depending on where it is panned.
My question is where can you pan this LFE channel so that it appears on one discrete output? I have tried having the ‘bass clef’ dial up at 100% and all the other channels at 0.
All of the other channels can be panned to discrete outputs as I understand it. It certainly appears that way in the master output.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?
Thanks again

Hi,
Thanks for that I will give it a try. Just out of interest I was unable to find information about each codec and which is best for specific tasks. Is there a good resource on the internet explaining the best codecs to use to keep maximum quality when outputting to Digibeta, HDCAM and Film using a Xena 2k card.Regards

Thanks for that but it still does not seem to work.
When I type in the 3D co ordinates into the object stats dialogue box, and tick the use comp camera, the 3D object does not appear at the right place in the 3D comp. It seems to be along way out in the Z direction.
Is there something that needs changing? FOV of the camera perhaps? Thanks for your time

Hi,
We would want to use 3D tracking. Is there a way of doing this without spending loads of money on 3D tracking software? Although we may be able to spend some money to acheive this effect if need be.Thanks
