February 24, 2012 at 12:50 pm in reply to: 24fps editing using premiere pro cs5

Hi jon thanks for the input…so basically its kind of pointless to use a pulldown. Are these cameras performing a pulldown internally to give it the effect of 24fps?..Only asking this because I did drop the footage in AE CS5 and the footage was 29.97 and I had AE guess the 3:2 pulldown and the footage then became 23.98(30fps)..I had my project settings at 24fps and was rendering that way and could see the difference with playback being slower but still good quality…will this just cause problems in my project with the quality of the video? Sorry kinda new to this…even editing in 29.97 will I have the 24fps effect for my project?
    thanks

hi Anne thanks for your help…so it wont be a problem because I have read that AVCHD in 1080/60p has a higher bit rate then say a standard AVCHD file and I have read that mac applications will not read it because it is not a standard format. ..has that changed in CS 5?
thanks for your help as I am kinda new to this.

  • Hi Michael…thanks for the response…i understand what you are saying but does that mean i will still get one after the other consecutive frames rendering one by one…when it renders it goes like this….numbers are frames…12…13…14…15…16…17 an so on..usually AE seems to render other projects like 6 or 7 frames at a time. I have not had where AE takes more than a second to render just one frame….is there any little short cut or settings to play with to help speed it up just a little…does it matter what kind of footage it is…should still images be JPEGS and not PSD’s….
thanks again…looking forward to CS5 if that’s the case

hi Vince thanks for responding….now if I import media in the quicktime animation format will it be in real time…i tried it and it does import without rendering but in the timeline the bar is yellow above the media…shouldn’t it be green which would mean true real time…what does it mean when the bar above the timeline is yellow….also if I import some media in widescreen format is there a setting to tell premier that the media is widescreen?….in FCE you have to tell FCE that its anamorphic in project and item properties….thanks for all your help

December 15, 2009 at 2:41 am in reply to: usb video cards

Hi Michael…thanks for your help…now I should not have a problem in after effects but what about final cut express or final cut pro? do you think I would be able to view hd content thru the usb video hub? what i am looking to do is connect a monitor and a lcd tv as my reference monitor to see what my projects will look like on tv..as well as using it to extend my desktop.I will be viewing via firewire as a preview thru s video so it probably does not even matter. ..maybe you can help me a little wit open GL…isn’t it supposed to provide better rendering in terms of time and taking use of the capability of the graphics card?
thanks again for your help…creative cow have the most helpful people.
