Hi I am looking to go with either FCP or Premier pro…I will be exporting alot out of after effects with the need for the alpha channel….will premier be able to import footage rendered out in the animation codec from after effects….I need to import into premier so it will be in real time…only FCP has the new prores4444 codec which will allow real time preview with no rendering and support the alpha channel….does premier support alpha channel in any codec or editing format?
    thanks

Yes, Quicktime Animation, or AVI uncompressed being the most popular.

In After Effects, be sure to select RGB + Alpha.

hi Vince thanks for responding….now if I import media in the quicktime animation format will it be in real time…i tried it and it does import without rendering but in the timeline the bar is yellow above the media…shouldn’t it be green which would mean true real time…what does it mean when the bar above the timeline is yellow….also if I import some media in widescreen format is there a setting to tell premier that the media is widescreen?….in FCE you have to tell FCE that its anamorphic in project and item properties….thanks for all your help
