X is technically flawed! (Just trying to be of service.)

It’ll be terrific for bts featurettes, as well.

[Andrew Kimery] “The fitness aspect of it interests me too, but currently the battery life is way too short for me.

Agreed. I use fitness monitoring stuff like crazy, and I’m looking forward to potentially/eventually adding the Apple Watch to my pile of toys. In addition to the wahoo heart monitor I use with my phone, I’ve been using Fitbit for a few years. Right now, I’ve got the Fitbit Surge, which does all of the health stuff the Apple watch does, plus a few of the luxury things like haptic alarms for phone calls and iTunes volume control. The screen is pretty basic, but the watch has a 7 day battery life.

[Robin S. Kurz] “Seeing that you’re so steadfast on the subject to the point of a crusade, you must have a whole long list of things you’ve been keeping from us the whole time?

Crusade?! You should talk! I think Herb’s being quite reasonable, and I can’t tell if you are purposely ignoring his observations and questions, or simply not understanding them. Believe me, Herb’s not your enemy. He’s a reasonable guy who sees things differently than you do.

IF you happen to have all of the audio attached to that particular shot. If you have several shots sharing audio, then its a completely different story. This thing simply shows what X has been able to do well since day one. If that’s the extent of your editing, then swell.

  • [Bill Davis] “Not there now, but it’s been on Richard Taylors master list of FCP X feature requests for quite a while – and I know the X team is aware of that.”

That’d be swell. Make a big difference for me.

  • In addition to what MG says, roles needs some sort of color coding so that elements can be monitored at a glance across a timeline. Timelines are maps, and I should be able to see at a glance where my VO is, my SFX are, and where DIA/SOT lives. In a track environment, all VO runs across a certain line, which is how I know immediately what is VO and what isn’t. If I can make all VO green, and all SFX orange, then I need tracks quite a bit less than I do now.

[tony west] ” quoted the director of the film. If you have a problem with the quote then you are calling him a liar.

I don’t see you as having any standing to do that.

I’m sure he doesn’t need you to tell him his craft at this point in his career.”

Wow, Tony. You certainly read between a lot of lines that I don’t even think are lines. I don’t know what you thought Oliver was saying, but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t saying it.

[Bill Davis] “It’s nothing but a good sign for those with solid X skills”

True enough. I passed your notice on to a friend of mine. Thanks for posting it.

DirecTV’s promo department has moved largely to X, though I think they still have some Legacy holdouts. At least that’s the way it was last year. Sadly, my very good friend who worked there was killed during his commute this last summer, so I’ve lost track of what’s happening there. But, they seemed happy with it. And, Magic Feather, of course. Those are the two groups I know who are using X out here. I’m sure there are more, but I don’t see an explosion coming.
