[steve yager] “Yep, those are still there as well as Compressor and Motion. Just FCP got replaced.

I don’t know why you don’t have it, but I believe you don’t. Here’s someone else who has gone through a similar experience very recently.

They DID find it in the Studio folder in Applications. Its been a long time since I’ve done it personally, but as far as I know the install only replaces the icon on the dock and installs X to a separate folder. Why yours is not there, I can’t say. What version of OSX are you using?

[steve yager] “Judging from the origin date of this thread, I’m guessing this was probably a feature of an early version of FCP X. There’s no trace of FCP 7 on my system anymore and a quick Google search reveals that FCP X overwrites 7 these days.

Huh. That’s not good. Do you still have Soundtrack Pro and Color? Or is the whole folder gone?

[steve yager] “How did you do this? I’m not finding FCP 7 on my system anywhere now that I’ve installed X.

Look in Applications. You should be able to find it in a folder marked Final Cut Studio.

Certainly. There are all kinds of solutions. I just don’t see it being worth the extra time or money.

  • I think the reasons for sending out screeners in SD on DVD, at least from Hollywood, are are multiple; first is guaranteed universality at the lowest common denominator, second, an SD image with constant bug and L3 warnings is very slightly less fodder for piracy, and third, price per unit is cheeper, which matters more, since there is no recouping costs on a promotional item. Basically, there just isn’t any real incentive to change the process.

    Don’t call me, surely.

  • FWIW, I own the Boris transfer program and it works quite well. The major mistakes seem to show up in clips where speed is altered. I also have Boris Red, which is the non-Avid version of Avid FX, and the transfer program does a nice job of bringing transitions across.
