Should I get a 6 core for editing and 12 core for graphics? Based on benchmarks that would get the best performance for each task, right?”
Is GFX AE? If so, do we have a sense of AE’s performance on those ATI cards?

It’s stilly and it’s a terrible personal brand, IMO.”
Apparently you haven’t been paying much attention to what I’ve been posting.
“I second that. I don’t think that’s at all a fair appraisal of your postings.

Yeah, unfortunately for me, they did end up releasing a new Mac Pro, dammit!

Now, Bill I appreciate the olive branch, and have enjoyed many of your posts for some time, but I think you have to go back a very long ways to when I was “yelling at you” for liking X, if, perhaps, ever. That’s not what I’ve generally taken exception with in our many Battle Royals.
What has made me warm to you in the last half year are acknowledgments like this:
[Bill Davis] “But the guys here who used to trash me up one side and down the other have largely come to understand that while X might not be the best solution for them – it’s a perfectly viable solution for many – and a superb one for many others.”
The only thing I would disagree with, in that statement, is that I think YOU have finally arrived at that position. I’ve been there for a very long time. I ceased being angry about X more than a year and a half ago. I’ve been mostly interested in trying to understand its strengths and weaknesses, and how it may or may not be useful to me since then. I believe a backwards search of my posts would generally bare that out.
[Bill Davis] “Andy is just me back in the first months. He sees people working overtime to belittle something that he finds interesting and valuable. And he’s annoyed when people can’t seem to look beyond their pre-conceptions – even when given evidence that some of those pre-conceptons have been long proven wrong.”
I think you should think better of yourself. I do.

That those two are listed and 8 and 12 aren’t has to indicate “something.” Waiting on pricing decisions wouldn’t be a delay of course but part shortage would be.
“True. Its also possible that 12 will have to be special ordered.

Seconded.

This forum would not exist without debating in the dark.
“Indeed. We engage in so much lights-off master debating on this forum that it might as well be know as FCPX-Spankin’ It or not.

But, that’s what Andy does. Pretty regularly. Clockwork-like.

[Marcus Moore] “I’m not in the US, but I’d guess a top of the line MacPro would be $9,500 based on the Canadian price I was given.
“
That would be impressive. I’d still be surprised by it, but–as I say–impressed. I guess we’ll know semi-soon.

[Daniel Frome] “A million bucks for a mac pro…
I bet it’s only the 6 core model.
“Yeah, but its red!
