November 24, 2013 at 6:47 pmWe know that for the rest of us…
but I’m not so sure that the Sotheby’s bidder has to wait.I do hope we don’t have an “iMac” situation where people have to wait for production to ramp up.

Note the only third party apps to get market mention are Resolve and Pixelmator.
So we know who Apple’s friends are.
Note in the footnotes the FCPX tests were with “pre release) version so those are the FCPX 10.1 (or whatever number it’ll be) results.
Also mentions Mari 2.5 pre release in the footnotes. -

November 24, 2013 at 7:42 pmIt looks like the Swingline red. I believe you have my stapler. 🙂
I would like to pimp my Mac as well but not for that much. Should have had diamonds and other valuable stuff put on there as well.

Pixelmator is an interesting choice, and I’d wager it is based on the fact that Pixelmator is Cocoa-native and will take better advantage of the GPU-heavy hardware compared to Photoshop, which is more CPU-bound.
Apple has had Adobe demo Premiere Pro for the OpenCL session of WWDC two years in a row now, so I don’t think there is any animosity to infer from the absence of Adobe apps in the Mac Pro marketing benchmarks (not that you said there was any).

November 25, 2013 at 1:59 pmThat would be hilarious. The guy pays a million bucks and he gets his delivery notice…

November 25, 2013 at 2:02 pmI guess we’d have to take it for granted that this would be maxxed out internally.
I wonder if it would have made sense for one of the benchmarking sites to buy this thing at that price- get a pretty great exclusive, and then resell it for near what they paid for it to the next bidder down the line.

That depends on whether you have to pay for shipping and Apple Care.
