What are you delivering? Is it for broadcast or Web? Is the majority of your footage 29.97 or 23.98. I would make your sequence setting match the frame rate of the majority of your footage. You can add the 23.98 clips to a 29.97 sequence and I believe it adds the pulldown on the fly. However I think for other frame rates like 25 to 23.98 you need to interpret footage first as it does a speed change like cinema tools. Otherwise it will duplicate or delete frames accordingly. I could be wrong on this, so anyone feel free to clarify.

Try changing your field order from lower to upper, also view on a display capable of displaying an Interlaced signal.
Progressive rollers always look jerky hence most people use static cards in progressive projects, so Interlaced (upper field) should give you smoother motion. Hope that helps.

Hi,

You could use bridge to batch rename the sequence as sequential files then premiere will recognise it as a numbered stills sequential sequence. Alternatively you could import as stills with 1 frame duration and try the posterise time effect and do some maths to work out what every 9th frame of your sequence is and set that as the posterise time frame rate.

The issue you might have is if you need to export XML to FCP as in my testing exporting an XML of the sequence containing image sequences into FCP only gives me the 1st frame and not the sequential sequence. Anyone have any fixes for this?

This might work, get QTAmateur which is free, https://www.mikeash.com/?page=software/qtamateur/index.html use the batch export to import all your .avi’s then export a quicktime to the blackmagic uncompressed codec, can’t test here but it might work.

Yes I was hoping for an more automated solution, although I did find a free plug in which displays source tc and reel, but not clip name so I think it should be possible.

I haven’t got the Kona 3 in yet (next week) so I didn’t realise it can do reverse telecine when digitizing. Even if the upnconvert is an extra stage that’s ok.. What i’m interested in is testing the quality of the footage compared to the original after rev telecine, upconvert then downconvert. If anyone has done this process and can advise please let me know.
