How can I import Windows Premiere CS3 AVI clips into FCP?
I’ve just digitised 17 DVCPRO50 camera tapes into a Windows Premiere CS3 project as SDI 8-bit uncompressed Blackmagic clips. My client can’t import the clips in Final Cut Pro 6.
Both the PC (which captured the footage) and the Mac (which is trying to import the footage) have Decklink cards with the latest drivers. Is there way to import these AVI’s or do I have get them digitised on a Mac/FCP as QuickTimes? I don’t have a firewire-equipped PRO50 deck to play out a native DV50 stream.

This might work, get QTAmateur which is free, https://www.mikeash.com/?page=software/qtamateur/index.html use the batch export to import all your .avi’s then export a quicktime to the blackmagic uncompressed codec, can’t test here but it might work.

Hey Peter, long time no chat…
I suspect your client will have to transcode to QT, or you’ll have to transcode the existing files, or capture as QT.
If your client has or can get visualhub for Mac that might work.

Yep long time no hear. Geez, sorry I didn’t do that large file upload test for you. My short term memory loss served me well there. Sorry.
Umm…back to the business at hand. I think I might be stuffed and the client may have to get a deck. I don’t want to compromise the quality of the material. If I’d digitised in 10bit AVI, I might be tempted to convert to QT from Premiere. Think I’ll have to buy a Mac for special jobs.
