I upgraded to Mavericks on a separate partition. All was fine EXCEPT I could not get video to my Matrox MX02. I am staying at ML as well. On a side note, I upgraded to the latest approved Matrox drivers on ML and now I can’t get video to the monitor again. :-/

You will need a faster graphics card. No way around that issue.

Thanks for all the very constructive feedback. As is usually the case, the clients drive a project in ways that are not apparent in the final video. The script was VERY tightly controlled by the Japanese clients with much concern for legal issues tied to misrepresentation. Imagine not being able to use the word “safety” in a helmet video? (even though I snuck one in on the opening title card) This is but a teaser for the series and I will be sure to post here again for more valuable feedback.

If you are working on macs. Quicktime player does a stellar job of screen capture. The H264 files it generates need to be transcoded to whatever format your other footage is in (Most NLEs hate H264!) but after that, it’s great. I just did a gig like that yesterday. Worked wonderfully! And Quicktime Player is on your mac now….free!

This fix saved my ass! Retrieving that single component from a previous un-updated system. DELETING the old one, EMPTYING the trash and REPLACING it with the old, unadulterated file and RESTARTING fixed all my woes.

Just figured it out:
“Your new template is saved into the theme you selected. Customized templates are saved into /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/Motion/Templates/, in a folder that corresponds to the name of the theme you’ve selected.”
Move this file and the linked art files, if any and you’re good to go.

I have done this many times in videos for SONIC restaurants (showing restaurant re-branding) and it works GREAT. Having a large resolution image sequence in After Effects that can be animated (pans, zooms, what have you) is the bomb and my clients thought I used some expensive motion control animation rig. Do it!
