    Hey Tom,

    Hope you see this..

I’m wondering if you got this workflow worked out? This is exactly what I’d like to do. I figure, if all my output is 720p, why am I killing my machine working on 1080i footage.

Thanks for the update! I’ve been trying the install with the card already in the PC, since I got the impression from their install PDF that was the order to do things. I’m going to pull the card and try that.

Please keep us posted on the audio sync stuff, and thanks for the help!

Have you played with (before you bring the PNG into your timeline) with right clicking on the file, going into properties, and specifying that it has alpha, and trying ether Straight (Unmatted) or Premultiplied? Then dragging it into the timeline?

This is what I have to do for video files with an alpha channel.

Be curious to hear if you get this to work, as I might be doing some work with a batch of PNGs in the near future.

I’m new to Sony Vegas, but went straight with 64bit V9.0 then upgraded to 9.0a. I did not even realize they did not make 9.0b for 64bit.

I’ve read that there are sometimes issues that effect the 32bit version of Vegas that Sony corrected in the 64bit version, it may be that is the case with the type of fixes in 9.0b..

IMHO, even if it is a lesser of a priority for them, the forward trend of technology will force them to continue and improve 64bit support. More and more RAM being added to systems, the really have no choice if they want to continue to sell a product the way I see it.

  • Same here.. I had the input setting to NTSC, and not HD 1080i 59.94fps NTSC. Ok, sure that makes sense, missed that setting..

But no audio, but I can verify the audio input source is set to HDMI.. A shame too, used it as a “high res” copy of the video I shot, hoping to be able to use the footage.. But no audio 🙁 glad I had the firewire capture backup (captured on a separate computer).

  • Hi Ivan,

I too am having this problem using a Intensity Pro card in a Vista 32bit machine (this box has 2GBs of RAM).

Did you find a fix for your issue?

    I’m on Windows 7 Ultmiate RC1 (x64)

The 3.2 drive package for Windows never finishes the installation, the installer runs for a bit, when it looks like its just about finished, the progress bar reverses and the installation fails.

So close! But no dice. real bummer too, not too unexpected, but shoot, this is one of the first devices I’ve got that worked under Vista, but does not work under Win7..

Anyone found a workaround to this problem?

  • Just had this exact problem today.

I captured my footage using a Matrox MXO2 Mini and not Vegas though. The codec I was using that had the stuck frame was QucikTime Animation…. The clip right before it was Lagarith lossless.

Any one else had this issue, or found a fix?

PS. Using Vegas 9.0, have not tried the new update yet. Win 7 X64, AfterEffects CS4 (all up to date).

  • I’ve been wondering about that… It’s still the job of the plugin creator to utilize that ability correct? Or does Motion do this job for them?

Thx for helpin the n00b everyone!

I’ll take a look at Black Magic’s codec.

I currently use ProRes because my work flow with the Matrox MXO2 mini
captures directly to ProRes then I move that around to several machines.

I noticed the Matrox MXO2 mini can capture to Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame HD/SD codec on the PC… But I have never heard of that codec, and I have no idea how it stacks up against ProRes? Anyone worked with Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame HD/SD codec before?

(Big thanks to everyone for the feedback, reading every post twice!)
