I wasn’t too young to work, legally or otherwise, but the $100K-ish pricetag was big rich for me…

May 30, 2012 at 3:26 pm in reply to: Please keep Lightworks discussions on the Lightworks forum…Begs the question again, as has been brought up in recent weeks (months?), should this forum be renamed something like: All the NLEs — Pros and Cons? That seems to be what it has evolved to at this point. With the exception, it seems, of Lightworks which has now been officially sequestered in it’s own 1 post per annum corner of the web.

[Lance Bachelder] “I certainly would never let an outside house dictate my workflow no matter how good they are.
“Lance, I think some give and take is in order here: you’re asking HIM to change his workflow for an outside vendor — which is YOU. There are usually ways to convert these things. Perhaps it could be opened in a newer PT system and resaved as an older project? I’m not a PT expert so I don’t know.

Yeah, as an existing owner, the cloud subscription is a no-brainer for the first year: $30/month! For EVERYTHING in their suite. You’re kidding me, right? I’m an Avid guy thru and thru, but there’s always room for another suite on certain jobs.

I’m gonna try the Cloud rental for a while, ’cause I’m probably going to migrate to PC eventually, and I like that I can use the apps on either OS. Also, I’ve been thinking about toying with Dreamweaver for a much needed website overhaul, but didn’t want to spend the full amount for a one-time personal project. Now I can use it all I want. Actually, it’s pretty cool. The only kicker will be if Adobe decides to raise the monthly fee to some unreasonable amount in the future.
Having said that, I’m convinced that it’s worth a try, at least for the first year at a paltry $30/month. At the least I might get that website updated…

Also, since the price now apparently includes ALL the Adobe titles, I can finally dig into Dreamweaver and update that decade old website. Plus, another benefit that doesn’t get mentioned much, is that you can use the PC version AND the Mac versions of each package. Adobe’s current licensing for boxed versions is for one or the other.

[Jules bowman] “Even our own government think we’re an endless source of disposable income 🙂 “
And that, Jules, is the point of my earlier little diatribe: I’m never against contributing to social welfare on some level, simply prove to me you’re spending my money wisely before asking for more. And now back to our regularly scheduled programming… 😉

[Jules bowman] “(lucky Americans… 20% stings)”
I hope people in the U.S. listen to that; there’s a growing group of folks who’d like to give the government more control over our lives and fund it with a VAT here, too. But THAT is also for another thread (and site, I imagine…)
