——- maybe am not understanding the problem but this is probably fairly straightforward ….

…… Firstly have the animated letter on a separate layer THEN EITHER:

( 1 )—- if the animated letter is physically large enough to entIrely cover the other letter( s ) just make sure its on the top layer ( make disappearing letters transparent when covered if you dont want to see them again )

or

( 2 ) —– if the letter isnt big enough and you want to use it as a ‘wipe’ then set copies of this animating letter as a trackmatte for each of the layer( s ? ) you want to loose – using animated masks to mop up any remaining odds and ends —

Also

You can open illustrator vectors in Ae as shapes ( also you can copy and paste Illustrator vectors as paths which can be useful for animations ) .

————- problem with the drop shadow method is client wants MASSIVE white ‘ glow’ and it requires many multiple copies all maxed out which is clunky as have quite a bit of type do with this ..

– I also had weird problems once before with a tif file though not looking like this –

— I assumed it was something to do with the way the comp was organised but when I converted the file to a targa the problem disappeared.

…. use a combination of z space movement and a scale change — should be fine if you play with it for a bit — use it myself on type zooms…..

For me the logo / lettering is a lot more interesting than the turbochargers – which although for enthusiasts undoubtedly have interest for your intro I would say they are a bit dull – thyerefore suggest as follows

1 ) – keep the turbochagers for the content and omit from intro

2 ) – add some suitable adrenaline junkie colours

3 ) – add some hi-energy adrenaline junkie movements to logo anim

4 ) – maybe add some whizzy stuff behind the lettering – flames – billowing smoke etc – to suggest afterburner – tyres spinning what ever – or maybe some loud abstact graphics —

– also maybe try what feels like a bit ‘over the top’ as well – it often isnt when it comes to titles …
