Adobe media encoder is quite capable of good encoding, but
I never use the default settings. I make custom tweaked
ones for DVD and Blu-Ray encoding…never had a client complain about
image quality. -
I don’t think mpeg stream clip is multi threaded so it won’t be using all your cores.
Adobe Media Encoder and Apple Compressor do though.

Here’s 2 VERY important questions:
1. are all the blu-ray players running the latest firmware?
2. Most importantly, have you tried different brands of burnable BD-R?
Some brands just don’t play well (expecially in 1st gen BD players)
I’ve had zero freezes/defects/returns on many Blu-Ray client discs using
TDK 25gb media (white inkjet printable. -
for that I think you would need to copy the video track to another track above
and crop or mask that.It would be nice to simply have an “invert” button on the crop and masking tools though wouldn’t it (like After Effects has)

concur. And all the features that were new in CS 6 are fully mature in CC
and work great. -
I know if you open the mixer panel you can put names at the very bottom.
not sure how helpful that would be for what you’re trying to accomplish though -
ya the -18 is too hot. should not go lower than -22 (towards zero)

true, they do vary in video formats but all of them now conform to Calm Act levels as far as sound goes.
Bryan with the loudness radar loaded, a range of -23 -24 is good.
It should not be going below -22 while playing it through.

Do you have a plugin like magic bullet looks on every clip?
Have you rebooted the machine?

one thing I will add for the “playback in front of clients”
CS 5.5 was buggy as heck even with fully rendered playback with a quadro 4000
CS 6 did a much better job, CC made it sing as far as unrendered playback.
