Having the same problem with streamclip – going Med 100 HD .mov to Mpeg4 720p. Took ages – perhaps 45 mins for a 1.5 min clip. I did have multipass selected but am now trying without. Perhaps I should stick with Compressor !

Hi Floh – probably not on topic but I’m not very good at knowing where to go on the forum – I’m on a Mac Pro Tiger running Med 100 HDe and normally all is fine.
I had one internal HD 3.5 tb and called it HD 2
I added another the same recently and called it HD3. At first I didn’t notice any problems but now, when I set up ‘media destinations’ in the Med 100 and choose HD3, the titles that I create don’t appear on the timeline, even though they go through the business of rendering – well they do sometimes and then disappear. It is only the titles that don’t show – all other media is ok. If I set HD2 only as the destination for titles and others it works as usual. Have you any suggestions ? I know you have seen it all before – well I hope so ! Chris

Well I can see that the original audio is logged as 44100 and the DV new redigitize is 48000 so it won’t let me do it – even though there is no orriginal audio or video (deleted) only the log. How does one manage that. I tried a new 48000 timeline and copy and paste but it doesn’t let me place the 44100 in it. Is there any way of changing the original log or overriding it ? Getting grey hair ….

Having got very pleased with myself and Floh I now find the system crashes if I try and add the Audio to Batch redigitize/aquire. Is this anything to do with it now coming in through DV / firewire instead of the original Audio leads ? Any ideas much appreciated if anyone still sees this !

I know this is years old but I was tearing hair out trying to update and redigitize some stuff off DV that was originally put in prog with other Media 100 standard and of course it wouldn’t let me see it or do it. After hours of messing I looked up here and of course Floh has the answer but why isn’t it more clear in the pdf manual ?

Bob, thanks for all – there is no problem – the spare sonnet case which cost £ 55 (friends were happy to bring if for me on their holiday) works my 5 drives so I have been able to back up all that was on them – that was my biggest worry. I have been told by Mac experts that it is impossible to update my Mac OS to a later system that will run the free Media 100 so have to wait for that. The only query I had was for you to confirm that a single new model 4 Tb drive at 7200 rpm was fast enough to run my HD timeline ? I have already found one to order from uk so our messages might have crossed. In my simple brain I wondered why they made such a fuss about a 5 drive raid system originally and all I needed was a confirmation from you that it would run fast enough – thats all – nothing more to worry about – sorry to put you to all the trouble !

Bob, expect you are busy but can you just confirm that the HGST drive you suggested is fast enough in my Mac to run the Med 100 timeline in HD ?

Bob, followed all you say and as you know now have the 5 drives backing up from the replacement Sonnet case but can I be sure that the HGST drive will perform fast enough with my Media 100 11.6.2 when using HD on the timeline ? I thought originally the only way of getting the speed was with a complicated raid type set up. Have found one in UK – reasonable price so just want to be sure !

I tried to read individual drives with a SATA USB cable into the mac but it didn’t see any of the five drives so I imagine they are set up as a raid or whatever the system is and cannot be accessed. Now I am backing up my Media 100 rendered stuff to the Toshiba but it won’t let me do it in one action – says I don’t have admin permissions for some items even though the Sonnet is read and write without permissions and is format Mac Os extended or some such . So I am doing it folder by folder and although I checked on the internet I could not see any way round it. Just glad to be able to use it all again !

Hi Bob and Andrew, friends from England dropped off Sonnet case and after a coffee I have plugged in my drives and turned on – hallelujah and all that – they lit up and appeared on the desktop as normal. You can imagine I am very relieved. The case has been a bit changed – suspect it was in a rack or something – feet missing – the locks broken (to remove drives without keys I suppose) and the bottom drive front lights are dead ( wires ?) BUT it appears ok. Now I am going to be a good boy and back up my 2.5Tb of stuff to my Toshiba USB drive (3Tb)

I will get round to ordering the drive Bob suggested although they seem to be more available in the States.

So your knowledge was spot on and I imagine the ‘chip set problem’ is in the drive case ?

I think I have mixed forum topics or a separate one has started so will copy this to the other.

Thanks again – this is all good knowledge although there probably aren’t many others out there as out of date as I am – but at least I benefit from all that hard won experience.
