    Thanks for the recomendations.

Has anyone experienced a problem of the first 3 seconds of audio being missing?

That’s what happened to me. I’ve reencoded it out of cleaner twice. the QT file from FCP is fine too. but the SWF files are missing the sound and it seems that its is slightly out of sync too.

by the way. what is the difference between the SWF and the FLV version?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Thanks so much for the input on the TC of the clips. That helps tremendously. I’ll look for Matt as well.

I also wonder if there is any feedback as to the issue of using HD footage for a full SD project. Should this conversion be preformed at the beginning of the project or at the end? It’d be great if it could be at the beginning as it would be a time and memory saver. But I wonder if this is a long encoding or rendering process or just a keystroke? If I have to wait for media to be transfered from HD to SD and then edit it might not make any time savings over just log and capturing off the tape master through the Kona Lhe board at SD resolution in the first place.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Chris

I know this is 2 and a half months later, but have there been any developments to this thread’s basic question now that its September?

    Thanks Noah,

Actually I’m sold on the HVX. I’m buying one mid Sept. (unless cineporter deal in october is too good to not wait for…)

Irregardless I’m scared about not having a 2/3″ ccd camera in the house ready to work and we’ve stopped using our Sony DVCAM DSR300 and been renting a SDX900 for the past year. I’ll immediately put the HVX to use for my doc projects and for my podcast and so on and for broll in Varicam tv shows that come to town; but the HVX isn’t supposed to replace the SDX900 for SD work is it?

If I’ve got the desire and work to switch to P2, but the clients that want 2/3″ccd SD for another year or so – and I have the budget room in Q107 for a 2/3ccd camera …

Here I go again, but I am leaning towards either buying a good used SPX900 with an new HD lens and using our existing DVCpro50 deck. (and upresing to HD if we need/want to – maybe even cross cutting HVX200 footage in SD or HD) — $30,000

    OR

Plunging into P2 and buying an SPX800 with an new HD lens and investing another $10k into aquistion media and archival solutions. (and upresing to HD if we need/want to – maybe even cross cutting HVX200 footage in SD or HD) — $50,000

And waiting until the P2 Varicam comes out before selling the SPX800 or 900 for $8000 come Q108

The only other idea out there to me is to buy the HDX900 and a HD1400deck and downconvert the footage for SD clients, live with tape for the big camera projects and let P2 truly come of age with my HVX projects. Problem is that the same aquistion media and archival solutions I’d need/want for the HVX workflow would then not be utilized by the HDX900. And I’d be investing in two post-solutions instead of one. — $65,000

My $numbers are based on camera, lens, monitor, bats and either decks or media.

The HVX isn’t supposed to replace

What is the entry price point for DLT?

Last time I checked I seemed to think a LTO3 was going to run $6000 and that came with a 800 gig cartidge? how much were the cartridges? under $1 a gig I think is dlt’s claim to fame right?

Thanks Shane! I’m looking forward to putting it to use. Do you have any more of these helpful plugins?

  • Thanks Noah.

Thats exactly what I was look for. Will the scene files on the CD work in the SPX900 as well as the HVX200?

    Thanks,

  • Thanks for the fast responses! What a resource this community is.

So if I right click on a clip in the browser it says “No items have files that are applicable to this application.”

Am I doing what you suggested?

So far the best I’ve been able to do is drag the clip into the log and capture window and add audio in the clip settings. It still wants me to rename it and make a new clip but atleast I don’t have to re log and I can batch capture at that point.

So this is what I’m trying unless someone has another suggestion for applying to all the clips an add audio to the clip setting command.

    thanks again CC!
