FCP questions when working with FS-100 and HD
If I shoot with the new HDX900 I can do so onto both tape and the FS-100 at the same time. So if I want to then bring that content into my FCP system I can either transfer it from the FS-100 onto our sata drives or log and capture on through the deck onto our sata drives. I have two sets of questions about this that haven’t been answered elsewhere.
If I use the FS-100 transfer method does it come over with timecode that will match the tape if for some reason I want to reconnect media at a future date(after I’ve taken the media offline)? This question is really trying to get at whether or not I can use the tape as a master and backup to the FS-100 media so that I can have the advantage of being able to start editing without logging and capturing but the conventional safety of a tape back up.
My second question is the HDX900 only records to HD. I have a Kona LHe board so can I work in SD if I so chose? Working in SD from the start(if the final is SD anyway) would be a time and memory saver. If not from the start then I can downconvert the HD timeline to an SD DVD or tape burn through FCP?
Thanks,
Chris
