I have 11 LaCie drives and they are pretty good. In the 7 years I have been in business I’ve had 2 fail. One of the ones that failed was the 1 Terrabyte drive, just past the warranty. What a bummer! One of the 4 drives went bad. I use it now just to store things that can be replaced because I don’t trust it, plus it is really loud! I think that their QC on this particular drive is lacking, but the smaller (120g, 160g, 300g etc) ones have been fine.
I have a different kind of problem with 7.5 ire. I am now starting to upload some of my clients spots to DG systems in Burbank. In other words, the spots don’t touch a tape. They are all digital files ftp’d to DG. I use Joe’s broadcast filter and it seems to work alright. Is there any other way to do this, or is the Joe’s filter the best case scenario?
Be careful, professional monitors really do need a blue gun for setting your bars correctly. We are looking at buying the Sony Luma 23″ lcd monitor, which has all of the broadcast adjustments in a seperate box.
Has anybody used this monitor? Is it worth $3000?
So not only did I have to buy this Decklink HD, but now I have to buy another piece of hardware to see video on my HD monitor? Is there another way to see HDV on my main monitor, now that it doesn’t go through firewire?
