Wow, this upgrade is a bit worrysome, unless I’m doing something wrong. I’ve used FCP since version 1.0 and have never had issues like these. First up, my deck will play, log shots and be controlled by the log and capture window, but it won’t capture a thing. If I try “capture now” It says there is no data coming in. If it’s being controlled and logging shots, why doesn’t it see the data? Second, you can’t preview through thr monitor unless you print to video? This is not cool. When I went to the Apple presentation at NAB, they said nothing about that that I can recall. Do I need to get an aja box or something? All in all, FCP is an awesome program, and it is a bargain to say the least, I’m sure I’ll get it all worked out with the help of the Cow!

    Thanks!

Hi, we had the same problem, you have DV downconvert set to ON in the menu, you need to switch this to OFF.

I know it’s not cool you can’t monitor through the HDV machine like you can in DV, it’s a limitation of the format NOT FCP. you need to add an HD card if you want pro quality video output or add a 23″ cinema display for monitoring via Digital Desktop.
