Is it unrendered video? Are you playing rt unlimited?
Also, try turning off all overlays and maybe have lower quality playback settings. Which graphics card do you have?

Just ignore it. I’ve been ignoring that warning for a while now with no real drama

Set up keys 1, 2, 3, 4 etc to ‘cut to angle’ in your keyboard shortcuts. This is the best way I have found of working as live.
Also multiclips can be temperamental so restart fcp if its not working and re-drop in from the viewer if that doesn’t work.

January 17, 2010 at 5:51 pm in reply to: Lines through video

    Hi,

We work with xdcam and had a similar problem but not nearly as severe, it was very opaque lines and many of them, like a bad tv reception (I will post a shot when I’m at work tomorrow). It was only on one shoot and I sent the mem cards out again with no problems. Maybe ours was a shutter speed \ lighting problem as it was in an exhibition centre. Yours looks more to do with the hardware, did you try re-capturing? Did you use xdcam transfer?

Why dont you just stick with NTSC DV? You wont improve the quality, it is only ever as good as your source material.

October 8, 2009 at 9:21 am in reply to: XSAN – ProRes compatibility issues

Thanks for the responses. We have had this issue on three machines now, which are actually three of our older ones – one being power pc, the others being Intel Xeon. It is pretty much impossible for you guys to diagnose i appreciate that, I just hoped it has happened to someone else!
It is just the Prores footage and its very odd… Maybe and update to FCS 3 or Xsan 2 will fix things? I’ll let you guys know…

    Thanks again,

    Charlie

September 28, 2009 at 2:38 pm in reply to: Codecs and their theories and workings

Thanks for that Michael, should get me started.. i’ll work through it later!
We use HDV and XDCAM EX and APPLE PRO RES. They are all quite good value for the space they need, seeing as ours is very limited! I just want to get a knowledge of the workings of them for future reference when we have to buy new cameras etc, as inevitably new formats will form.
    Thanks again

Any more guides out there people? Maybe some specific to the codecs that are built on MPEG-2 and beyond?

    All the best,

    Charlie

September 25, 2009 at 11:40 am in reply to: Media Manager in FCP Studio 3…

    Hi there,

I read your post with some interest and I’m not exactly answering your question as I have not got my hands on 3 yet.
But we use media manager here to good effect because we are tapeless and it simply copies timelines for us and deletes all unused media with handles.. as I’m sure you do the same.
My question is, do you then export that MM timeline to tape? and thats where the problem arises? or is the problem simply speed altered footage when media managing initially? Because I have never had a problem with it!

    All the best,
