We are running FInal Cut 6.5 with media sitting on the latest Xsan before version 2 (1.4 I think). We have an issue where ProRes clips on the Xsan go offline, and when connected are totally different clips! The finder jumbles the names and its a real mess.
Our workaround is to move the files to another part of our server then reconnect on another machine. Then send this new project to the problem machine and it connects up ok. Unless you restart FCP, then it all happens again.
Anyone experienced anything like this? Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    Charlie

Try the Xsan forum or Xsanity.com. Not unless Mr. Radounis is hangin’ out.

I can tell you that we use X-SAN and render to PROres all day long and aren’t seeing this issue.

Trouble shooting something like this is a PITA, but my suggestion is to start at the begining with a clean project, a sample of what you’re trying to accomplish and see if you can repeat the problem. Renders
can get lost, but it’s usually due to moving projects, systems, or a change in the “render” folder.

I don’t think someone is going to solve this with a post on this forum. You really need someone sitting on your system to take a close look at what you’re doing and track the results.

Wish I had an easier response…

    It’s only prores clips?

Thanks for the responses. We have had this issue on three machines now, which are actually three of our older ones – one being power pc, the others being Intel Xeon. It is pretty much impossible for you guys to diagnose i appreciate that, I just hoped it has happened to someone else!
It is just the Prores footage and its very odd… Maybe and update to FCS 3 or Xsan 2 will fix things? I’ll let you guys know…

    Thanks again,

    Charlie
