[David Mathis] “I thought Final Cut Pro X already had a color bar. “
AFAIK, it doesn’t. And it definitely doesn’t have an indian head test pattern! ☺ The SMPTE Bars are legit, and I have no clue what the others are for, but I included them just because…
The most useful thing might be the slate. You can choose to show 2, 4, 8, or 12 channels, and all the fields can be edited, moved around etc.

I thought we were talking about Resolve?

[David Mathis] “Would it be possible to use the project history buttons to deal with this?”
That’s what I do. Could it be easier? Sure, but it’s not bad.

[Brett Sherman] “If you have to go in to the compound clip to make an adjustment you don’t really know how the compressor is going to affect the sound of your adjustments until you go back outside the compound clip.
A better method would have been to allow effects on roles without having to create a compound clip.
“While I do think it would be nice to choose what you’re monitoring when inside a CC, once you get to the Mixing stage of the cut, it’s not that big of a deal. FWIW, what I do is, after making the CC of the Project and showing Lanes, choose to view the components as Subroles in the inspector *and stay in that view*. If the subroles are detailed (separate characters/mics for DIA, MX A, B, C etc., regular and LFE Effects ) You can pretty much make any tweaks without backing into the comp. If I need to, I just go in, make the tweak, and use the timeline history KB shortcut to back out and hear it.
Again, being able to hear effects applied to a Comp and/or Roles while inside the CC would be welcome. Hopefully that will appear at some point now that the Role Effect function exists…

[Scott Witthaus] “Not seeing the issues Oliver reports. Very quick, reactive. Solidified as my editor of choice.
“Same here. I use the dark OS X UI, and there are a couple ‘grey text in a grey field” issues, but no disappearing clip names or anything like that. Not crashy either. And very snappy. 🙂

November 8, 2016 at 6:01 pm in reply to: So has the 10.3 Update calmed your fears on the Future of FCPX?[Andrew Kimery] “SpeedScriber is a new (still in beta I think) cloud-based transcription service that is looking to eventually have ScriptSync-like features inside of PPro (among many other features).
https://www.speedscriber.com/
“SpeedScriber is, even in beta, amazingly good, and really inexpensive compared to the established services. Combined with Lumberyard it is an enormous timesaver. Ran a few interviews through it recently… blown away.

Just coincidence, then.”Well, maybe the MBP release/FCP X Summit was the deadline, that seems logical. I really doubt it was held back for that at all. I’m speculating though…

FCP 7 Still works. And I guarantee you it’s not just luck. So whether they can make promises or not (they can’t, nobody who sells software can anymore) In general, they don’t just drop stuff. And if they do? We’ll all move on. To Lightworks!

Many? You’re painting FCP X users with a ridiculously broad brush Oliver. You should step outside the Cow now and again. 😉
