I have an audio editing program called Goldwave, I use the hell out of it for simple audio editing, and conversions. YOu can pull the audio from an mpg video file,AVI video file, or Quicktime Video file and convert to whatever you wish. The program is only $45 US. Not bad for such a versatile program. Oh and by the way all new releases are free to licensed users.

An SP machine can record on regular Betacam, but a regular Betacam cannot record on SP.Charlie

I love it when you get on your soap box. Could the soap that our boxes contained possibly have come from the same company?But then would that admit to a standard, which we know there will never be?

I always stress the need for scopes. If you have good scopes, and learn to read them properly, it is possible to create video with cheap monitors (altho I wouldn’t recommend it)
I got Scopo Gigio for AE it works great! All my other apps have built in scopes, and I have an external hardware scope, altho it is possible to get by without a hardware scope, just again not recommended.Charlie

I create DVD’s all the time without menu’s but it is the software setup that does this.

Hey Ed, hang in there buddy. I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t been around the COW as much as I should. I’m really kind of glad I didn’t hear til you were back home and better. This way I won’t be so worried about how you are doing. At my age, I don’t need any extra worrys. You take care of yourself now, we need you around for a long time. Jo, you tell that big lug you are married to that a lot of people care about him and that he better do as you tell him and take care of himself.

[Jeff Carpenter] “Many spotlights are sunlight balanced and will look very blue to the camera. If you can, you should switch to the “sunlight” setting on your camera since the spotlights don’ta look blue to the human eye so you should correct for them.”
We usually have good response from spotlight operators and head electrics when we ask they use correction on spotlights. We actually carry gels with us most of the time in case they don’t have any. Straw works very well.
If you correct for the spots then the other colors will suffer, whereas if they correct the spots themselves there is no noticable difference for the live audience and everyone should be happy.

Also make sure the window is touching teh edge of the viewable area of the monitor.
