As long as you light the person correctly and use the right lens setup you’re going to get a good picture. Word of warning is don’t interview someone with a window behind them, you’ll get serious bloom during the day or strange colours if you’re using warm lights. Also keep away from anything too busy in the background, this will distract from the person being interviewed.

  • You might as well get a Canon 550D. Excellent video and save some money.

Carry on watching the type of video you posted. The main thing is to get out there and film stuff, make mistakes and most importantly have fun. It’s amazing how quickly you’ll learn.

We’re using the Ninja 2 with our FS100 and I’ve been blown away at the added quality we’re getting. Remember, you won’t see the difference directly from the video file but you will see a huge difference in post where you end up with a ton of extra colour space.

For the best results you go for the highest colour space… 4:2:2 out does 4:2:0. However, you’re talking about paper green screen in your living room so I think the colour space conversation is a little “over kill”. If you want a half decent key then 90% of it is in the lighting.

Zoom H4N. We’ve been using one for years and it’s never let us down. Just ensure you get a reputable make of SD card for it (you’ll only need a 4 gig card and that will keep you going all day).

My feeling would be “no” is the answer. The Nikon D800 was the first DSLR that had hdmi uncompressed out.

The D800 films for 30 minutes and produces stunning images on the Ninja2 with uncompressed HDMI out. I think the ned D600 does to.

Not simultaneously in that while filming we take photos, but we do use the stills for on set photos, checking lighting etc. We also use it D800 for professional photos.
