I recently purchased a new iMac, a very fast machine. I was excited about using the USB 3.0 but then my drives kept dissconnecting. I couldn’t even upload my CF cards without it dissconnecting after four or five files. I searched for a solution and found none. I eventually switched to the USB 2.0 connections.

I have another question Jordan. When I export FCPXML to Resolve, any grouped set of clips above the primary story line in FCPX imports to Resolve as a “secondary storyline” in the form of a single clip, with any transitions created in FCPX imbedded in the clip. The individual clips in the group can not be color corrected individually. Is there a setting I have wrong in FCPX for exporting the XML or do I need to ungroup the secondary storyline clips before export to Resolve and add the transitions to the clips after they come back to FCPX from Resolve?

Thanks Jordan! That’s what happened. I’m new to Resolve and I guess I’m learning from my mistakes. I appreciate your help.

Thanks Charlie! I made a second Location Library, copied the Events, less the “rogue” Event, into the new Library. I then went into the finder where the Libraries were located and sent the original Library to the trash. Such an obvious and logical solution, I was looking way beyond it. I still don’t know how it all got started but thanks to you and the virgin goat, everything is back to normal.

Way ahead of you Gary. That’s the first thing I do when confronted with any technical problem. A no brainer. However it didn’t work this time.

Thanks for all the input and advice. I’m feeling better about buying my friends iMac. However I’m still curious if there will be a noticeable performance difference between an iMac with a i5 processor and an iMac with a i7 processor. Will the virtual 8 core processing with less RAM and a less powerful video card still be faster than a i5 processor with more RAM and the 780M 4GB video card plus the 3TB Fusion drive or will the RAM and card and Fusion drive make things feel equal. I know it’s probably not a black and white issue and it depends on what your doing on the computer but I’m curious in terms of the overall working experience.
