FCPX 10.1.2 using proxy automaticly?

Nope. You need to manually switch between proxy and Original/Optimised modes.

This is making me feel realy dumb but where is the switch? I’ve looked in: Final Cut Pro > Preferences > Playback, where it used to be, and the switch is not there. (See screen grab) I can’t find it anywhere. Any suggestions?

They moved it to the top of the viewer window
