Do you need to key the color… or just change it?
It looks like the image has been highly processed with a cartoon effect. If possible, attempt you key or color change on the original unprocessed footage, then apply the image effects.
If you just want to change the color, you may have luck with the secondary color corrections in Color Finesse.
In your sample frame, the colors are so crunched that most keyers or color correction tools are going to have a hard time separating the pink background from the pink flesh tones.

I’ll throw this out: Rarely have I been paid off “next time.”
The only times I have been paid off “next time” has been when working with people I have an established and healthy working relationship.
However, Grinner makes a good point… at this point in the game, it’s too late to do much about it. The only leverage you have is holding on to the final product until they pay what you want. This is a pretty good way to ensure that you get paid nothing. Learn and grow.

Highpoint Technologies makes several RocketRaid cards that are OS X compatible, support RAID 5, and are not too expensive. I am a big fan of RAID 5. It offers a compromise between speed and redundancy. It has saved my behind several times.
You need at least 3 drives to take advantage of RAID 5’s features. And you will get much better speed with 5 or more drives.
One draw back of the Highpoint cards is that they are not OS X bootable, so you will have to keep a separate system drive. Also, you may consider housing your drives in an external enclosure. But you can buy a card, an enclosure and 3 drives for just a little more than what you will pay for the Apple card alone.

June 1, 2009 at 9:53 pm in reply to: Crash when Exporting w/Motion templates in TL?Motion Templates have been causing me to pull my hair out over the past few months. There are MANY bugs.
The Motion renderer will not work correctly under OS X 10.5.5 or 10.5.6 with certain video cards. If you have either of those OS versions installed, you may consider upgrading to 10.5.7. It seems to be working okay for me so far. Is there a reason you are running FCP 6.0.2? You should definitely update to 6.0.5 and the latest version of Motion if possible. There are quite a few relevant fixes in the update.
Also, I find Master Templates render much more reliably if I render them in the sequence and then export. If you are using custom Master Templates, things will work much better if you pre-render as many elements as possible. Pre-render any group that does not contain a drop zone or editable text element.

Check this out:

I can’t vouch for it, but I use it’s big brother ON2 Flix Pro and it is great.

Okay. Figured it out. I was able to achieve the desired effect by keyframing the “spin” feature under “Physics” in Particular.”
Thanks!

I noticed in your signature you are running 10.5.7. Did this problem appear after you updated to 10.5.7?
Just curious.

I have not used the AG-HPX170, but I have used the HVX200 and I have used AVC-HD. In my opinion, the AG-HPX170 is going to give you superior performance for keying/composting. So if VFX creating is your goal, go with the AG-HPX170.

Look in Macintosh HD->System->Library->Extensions. Throw away anything that says SiliconImage or begins with SIL. Then reinstall the latest drivers.
