Keying a specific color (difficult)

Do you need to key the color… or just change it?

It looks like the image has been highly processed with a cartoon effect. If possible, attempt you key or color change on the original unprocessed footage, then apply the image effects.

If you just want to change the color, you may have luck with the secondary color corrections in Color Finesse.

In your sample frame, the colors are so crunched that most keyers or color correction tools are going to have a hard time separating the pink background from the pink flesh tones.

Yes it has RG’s cartoon effect and atm I am processing Raw images again and will post a bunch soon.

You will get some idea of the shot from multiple images I will repost, basic goal is to replace the background pink rectangular shape by matting out so it can be replaced.

And I think the best way (you are right)is to work on RAW data first before any other effects are applied.

Well…
you do realize some of them are wearing pink lipgloss and pink scarves ?

Anyway,

the first thing I tried gave me incredibly reasonable results:

1. Invert (pink becomes green)

2. Keylight, just pick the green,
set to screen Balance to 75, perhaps set Despill Bias to the inverted skintones (that would be a very milky lightblue)

3. Invert again.

That pink scarf you’re just gonna have to roto and the sections where the flashes occur are also very hard.

And yes you are right a lot of other things need to roto.

Well at least I have something to work on from now.
