No it’s actually right in the timeline. The DPX sequences are to replace earlier versions of the same clips in the timeline but when I put them in they are about 80% shorter than the originals. Changing the time base of the DPX clips should effect their duration but it doesn’t seem to be.

[Chris Hall] “It appears tracker keyboard shortcuts are gone (option-T for track forward, etc). “
Whoa you’re right. You can access the commands through the menu but no shortcuts are listed. Perhaps an underhanded ploy to encourage people to buy their panels? If so removing features that were there before is not the best marketing strategy. Personally I’d rather pay 3-4x the price of the program and have full customization over the keyboard shortcuts and 3rd party panels.

This is terrific! Thanks for sharing.

That did the trick. Now to scour the rest of the timelines. Thanks.

R9b3
Osx 10.7.4
2.8 GHz Quad core
16 GB Ram
NVidia GT 120 for graphics
GTX 470 for Resolve
Red Rocket
Black Magic Decklink HD ExtremeI’ve narrowed it down to just one clip which is reversed, sped up and broken into smaller clips. It’s an R3D like everything else on the timeline and the segment that is causing the crash is broken into a single frame. I tried changing the speed to 100% but it didn’t fix the problem. Now I’ll try lengthening that frame on a new track in the conform window and see what that does.

Soft clip in R9 is actually not as robust as it was in 8 as far as I can tell. Either way for blown out highlights I usually create a separate node and key in just the luminance of the blown portions and a little just below. Then I raise the mids and blacks and lower the highlights while giving it a hue that matches the image or looks good (usually balanced to white or warm). Raising the mids and blacks near the highlights seems to “soften the blow” and lowering them makes them less distracting. Just my taste though, your mileage may vary.

Good to know I’m not alone on the red bar issue!
Of course all would be amazing in the Resolve universe if they’d allow open mapping to Tangent Devices so we could get fully customizable panels. I had been thinking they would not want too much competition for their own panels but since they’re nearly giving the program away anyway with the Lite version you never know what they’ll do. *Crossing fingers*
[Juan Salvo] “”- Primary Out from Color. I’d love to see a way to select a series of clips and add on one final node that doesn’t affect the node trees of the individual clips (similar to how the Primary Out room worked in Color).”
Switch to track mode.”
Track mode is exactly what I need except that it affects every clip in the timeline no matter what track it’s on (which is counter-intuitive to the name). If I could move a scene to another track and adjust only that track that would be a slightly inelegant solution but a workable one.
[Juan Salvo] “- The ability to add a hard drive and access it without rebooting. ”
“This already works in os x.”
Good to know! I just kept adding it manually.
I’m still impressed by the new features in R9 and learn something new about the program almost every day.
One more request that’s more of an idea: Ability to manually drag the HSL qualifiers from the graphs. The moment I saw this change from R8 I thought that they’d made it more intuitive in that you could just click and drag the parameters you’d want. Maybe it’s in the works…
I’m looking forward to the next release! Happy to be in the care of a company so dedicated to innovation and product perfection.

I’m using an Nvidia GTX470 and recently upgraded to 10.7.4. My performance with ProRes files has taken a hit. I did the uninstall & update to beta3 and still am having troubles. ProRes4444 files will play 24fps with no Nodes on but once I do any corrections (even just levels) it will jump down to 9 fps max. What else should I try?
