That’s good to know. Hopefully I won’t need to jump into any old projects soon but now I know how. Thanks!

  • I get poor performance with FCP 7 playback all the time. Didn’t know what it was but it makes sense that the GT120 is to blame. I usually had to close all other programs (especially Safari) to get footage to play properly.

Any update on this AMD card? I’d be interested in it as an alternative.

Very nice! I hadn’t seen that option before. Great option to have as a backup for these situations. It saved the day. Thanks!

I’m not sure what you mean. Is there a way to render out a flattened sequence?

Yes, render is A-OK. XML export cause crash. I managed to export an EDL but the media is offline so I’m re-rendering and trying that again.

Thanks Simon. I’ve already started doing what you’re suggesting by breaking the sequence into chunks. The first chunk went through fine but the second and third crashed. It’s only a 2 minute piece but lots of fast cuts and tons of speed changes. I’d basically have to go every three clips at this point. Very frustrating.

Having this problem now. How do you determine the problem shot?

I figured it out. In FCP you can select the clip and go to the logging properties. All those clips were set to interpret TC at 60fps rather than 24. I changed them and they linked up. Also the editor had put them in a folder called, “Conformed 23.98” and I don’t think Resolve liked the “.” in that name. These two things fixed it.

Figured this one out… Somehow the VFX person messed up the timing and exported the sequences as 30fps. Not sure how they did that as you’d have to go out of your way to re-time an image sequence but hey… It is still confusing how selecting 30fps, 60fps, etc has no effect on the clip duration in Resolve. I suppose it automatically plays the images at one frame per frame of your timeline’s time base. Makes sense. Thanks for your help anyway.

Just wanted to report that clips of single frame duration with speed effects on them still cause R9 to crash without a crash report on render. This bug is NOT fixed in the release.
